August. 🥵

It’s the month that piles on.

It’s the final push before the end of summer, where the pressure to “make the most of it” collides with deadlines. Families prep for back-to-school, businesses prepare for end-of-year strategy, and expectations—both personal and professional—skyrocket.

It’s the first full week of school at our house. New schedules, new routines +++ after-school tennis and homework.

We’ve yet to hit a rhythm and that in-between tension feels both exciting AND taxing.

I know I’m not alone.

The truth is, if you don’t carve out space to breathe, the relentlessness of August has a way of swallowing you whole.

When life and schedules get chaotic, it gets harder to think clearly, make decisions, and show up as your best self.

It’s these moments when zooming out, asking for help (or even figuring out what help would look like) is exactly what we need most.

It also feels like the hardest possible time to do it.

I can hear it from my clients and even in my own head:

Time to think and strategize? Must be nice.

I’ve been there and I’ve made all of the excuses. I can also tell you that no one’s coming for you. At the end of the day, the only person you answer to is yourself.

So —while the overwhelm of an August month can evoke paralysis and limited thinking, if we’re willing, we get to choose curiosity and possibility.

To look at things differently.

To assume the best.

To entertain more compelling perspectives.

I’m in one of these seasons right now. Where the work exceeds capacity and I feel every bit of the above 👆. It’s a battle for energy, meaning and impact and sometimes I don’t see the way through it. AND —I’ve pushed through so many seasons like this that I have evidence I can. And that I will.

All of this made possible because I had a coach. I’ve always had a coach.

I remember one season of intensity many years ago —when I hired a coach for the first time. I was done with the same patterns and I was ready for something new. Life took a completely different turn and my life changed and grew in the most profound ways. It was in that space that I began to make decisions that shaped the trajectory of my life today.

Are you in one of those seasons?

Where you want to grow, push through the status quo, because you know there’s something bigger? Do you wish you had a plan and someone to walk that out with?

This is exactly why we created our flagship program, Emerge.

Because resetting isn’t easy. But doing it together gets you further faster.

Community multiplies impact.

Alignment fuels resilience.

Shared experience reduces isolation.

Multiple perspectives create richer learning.

Bottom line: Community is a catalyst for confidence. Growth requires courage and taking risks is easier when you’re supported by peers who are also stretching.

Make September YOUR restart. To close out the year with new evidence of the meaning, growth and impact you know is under the surface for you.
